What’s it like to be an intern at Conifer Counseling?

We strive to give our interns a balance of independence and support, making it as “real life” as we can. You’ll operate like the rest of our agency clinicians - seeing clients, managing case files, documenting with compliance, co-facilitating/facilitating groups, learning ethics and morals of counseling, etc., while being guided by your supervisor, and supported by the rest of our team.

How will my supervisor support me?

Your supervisor will be there to help answer any questions that you may have in regard to your journey as a student therapist. You will receive weekly one on one supervision, with the opportunity for monthly group supervision with your peers. Our supervisors are passionate about mentoring the next generation of clinicians, and hope to support you in any way they can.

Will I have flexibility as a student intern?

Absolutely! We aim to make your experience as comparable to being a practicing clinician as possible. You’ll reflect regularly with your supervisor regarding input for when you see clients, what types of clients you see, and what modalities you use; plus, you can find a balance between virtual and in-person sessions that works for you!

What are the requirements of being an intern with Conifer Counseling?

Conifer Counseling and Park Counseling welcome graduate students pursuing degrees in Social Work or Professional Counseling from accredited universities. We accept students who are beginning their foundational or practicum placements. We are open to discussing other training timelines—such as students entering their internship year—on a case-by-case basis during the interview process.
